USAGHR – Kurdistan Region
On February 25, 2025, the Women’s Union of Kurdistan held its first women’s conference at the Hikrest Hotel in Sulaimani. The event gathered numerous individuals, activists from women’s rights organizations, and independent female entrepreneurs.
The U.S. Human Rights Organization – Kurdistan Region/Sulaimani Branch participated in the First Conference on Women’s Economics for Equality, Development, and Human Resources. The conference featured two panel discussions led by academics and experts specializing in women’s economic empowerment.
Despite the presence of many talented female entrepreneurs with innovative projects in the Kurdish community, the Kurdistan Region lacks a strong financial support system for women-owned businesses, limiting their ability to expand. The panel discussions addressed these challenges, and the event concluded with an engaging session featuring discussions and Q&A with attendees.
